A little note on abundance (and turkey) 🦃

Yesterday I was talking to my partner about a big decision I wanted to make and I was telling him all the reasons I was scared about the decision, all the ways it could go wrong.

He said, "if you were thinking about it through a lens of abundance, what would you say?"

That one little reframe changed everything.

We talked through what kind of life I wanted to create - one that empowers women to have more joy, peace, impact, and resilience in business and in life. As I started talking through what could go RIGHT if I said yes - what could happen if I opened myself to the possibility of everything working out, I realized that I really did want to say yes to this opportunity. That this opportunity was in alignment with creating the life of my wildest dreams. It would walk me further down the path I want to go.

I talk a lot about having focus filters - the lens that we run decisions through that helps us keep focused on what matters, even when fear, confusion, or excitement threaten to veer us off course.

If you are like me, it is easy to get trapped in a headspace of "what ifs" that are generally fear fueled, but what if you could reframe those thoughts into positive possibilities?

What if your focus filter was creating a life full of your wildest dreams - what decisions would pass that filter?

It would mean saying no to a lot more than you say yes to. But it would also mean having an attitude of abundance. Knowing that your wildest dreams are not only possible, but likely and every decision you make can take you closer to those dreams.

I wanted to send this note out today, on Thanksgiving (in the US) because it's a day that's all about gratitude (and turkey).

For me, having an attitude of gratitude is the same as having an abundance mindset. They are two sides of the same coin.

If you are not grateful for what is right now, it is so hard to be in a state of receiving what could be. If you are not open to abundance, you will not see what is possible for you.

So today, as you settle into what you are grateful for in the present, I encourage you to be grateful for what is still to come. For the abundance you will receive. For the life you are on the path to creating. For the possibilities unfolding.

I'm so, so grateful for you and the journey we are on together.

Warmly,
Summer

Ps. That decision I made? It was to enroll Claire Baker's Cycle Coach Training. In 6 months, I plan to be a certified cycle coach and incorporate a holistic full-bodied approach to building the right systems (for us) into our business. Here's to creating a life of our wildest dreams. 🥂

Feeling jazzed after a connection call? Mastermind meeting? Really good podcast episode? Instead of immediately doing the thing that your brain PROBABLY tells you to do - IE. Get MORE inspiration (start on that new idea, call that friend that always energizes you, try that new complex recipe you found on Pinterest) - try this first. As a life coach once told me, pair inspiration with motivation. USE that energy you just got to knock something you've been putting off on your to-do list....

This morning I woke up, took the dogs out, then grabbed a banana and sat at my desk. I stretched and said, "hey google, play some instrumental reading music" to activate my Nest and settled into my routine of reading one chapter of the book that is currently inspiring my writing, Bird By Bird. I highlighted all the brilliant sentences that popped out at me and at the end of the chapter, I feel buzzed with ideas and inspiration. I closed the book and turned on my typewriter. After over a month...

My sisters and I were busy looking at the dozens of options for pottery we could paint, feeling totally overwhelmed by how many decisions there were. Not only did we have to chose the piece of pottery we wanted (mug, vase, dragon?!) but also what design we wanted to use and the colors we wanted. There were ENDLESS options and minutes ticked by while we looked through binders of stencils. Then they told us that they close in an hour and we each felt panicked. It was my last night in town so we...
